Why using Dental Implants?
Missing teeth and gaps in your mouth can detract from an
otherwise beautiful smile. The only permanent solution that
actually mimics your natural teeth, dental implants at Cosmetic Dental Care provide a natural-looking,
fully functional replacement for missing teeth for patients
who visit our Parramatta Surgery.
Placing
a dental implant consists of multiple steps. And because implants
require surgery, many of our Sydney area patients opt for
IV sedation dentistry for maximum relaxation and comfort.
Following sedation, an incision is made into the gums, revealing
the underlying bone. A socket, or opening, is created in your
jawbone for the implant to be placed. At the end of this first
stage, the implant is sutured over the implant, allowing the
implant to fuse with your bone in a process called osseointegration.
For the next three to six months, you will be provided a temporary
prosthetic to fill out your smile.
The second phase of the dental implant process involves locating
the dental implant within your jaw and attaching a healing
cap. Your gum will once again be closed around the healing
cap, and you will return in a few weeks to receive your final
abutment, or support post. At this point impressions will
be taken from which your final replacement tooth will be constructed.
In some cases, it may be beneficial to place the implant
and healing cap in the same visit. This is often desirable
since only one surgical appointment is needed, but circumstances
may warrant the two-step approach. Sr Omid Allan will determine
which is right for you.
Dental implants are most commonly used to replace one or
more missing teeth, but they also have other applications
that include supporting removable bridges and dentures.
- Dental implants look and feel just like your natural teeth
- Dental implants stand independently of adjacent supporting
teeth
- Dental implants have a high success rate.
There are many different types of dental implants in use today. The implant
technique used depends on amount of available bone structure.
If not enough is present, a bone grafting, sinus lifting or other surgical procedures may be necessary. we use
Laser-Lok Biohorizon Implants, Ankylos Implants ,One Piece 3mm Implants depending on your needs and clinical indication.
The dentist will determine which implant type is right for
you.
Denture Supporting Implant
We offer dental Implants to improve denture stability and retention for edentuolos patients who suffer from loose dentures. Using one piece Implants can involve a minimal surgical procedure and it can change the dentures to a more functional and comfortable option.
Because dental implants are a relatively new technology,
it is hard to tell exactly how long they will last. However,
several short-term studies show success rates of greater than
95 percent, which compares favorably with implants in other
parts of the body.
Whether you have implants placed in the lower or upper jaw
may also affect the surgical success of the procedure. Success
rates in the lower jaw are higher than that of the upper jaw
because of bone density.
Just like your natural teeth, dental implants must be properly
maintained and cleaned. Regular visits to the dentist along
with daily brushing and flossing will ensure that your dental
implant lasts as long as your natural teeth.
Until the advent of dental implants, removable partial dentures
and bridges were the only teeth replacement options. Dental
implants affixed with dental crowns by Sydney, New South Wales,
area cosmetic dentist Dr. Omid Allan provide strength, durability,
longevity and aesthetic value to a smile missing one or more
teeth. Contact Cosmetic Dentall Care
